And then, there is me.
Kirsten Cameron, writer.
I am a Melbourne based writer.
Having always wanted to write in 2014 I overtook the uncertainty that had plagued me and took my first writing workshop. I have not looked back.
My work has been long-listed for the international River Styx micro-fiction prize 2020 and, highly commended for the Fellowship of Australian Writers Jim Hamilton Unpublished Manuscript Award 2017 for the novel, Mary And The Sound Of The Gun.
I am alumna of the Curtis Brown Creative Editing Class 2019, Faber Writing Academy Writing a Novel 2017, and Sirenland Writers Workshop 2016, where I was one of 30 from over 800 international applicants selected. In 2017 I was honoured to audit US writer and Professor Jim Shepard’s Fiction Workshop by invitation at the prestigious Williams College, Massachusetts, USA.
In support of the writing community I am part of, over the last five years I have been coordinating Freefall Writing Workshops in Australia. In 2018 I founded the Freedom to Write Scholarship to give budding writers who have not been afforded the time or encouragement to write access to a generative writing workshop.
I founded Writers Write to make some of the workshops, mentors and resources I have found valuable available to other writers on their journey.
